Sight Word Game

I came up with a cool little game for teaching sight words, or spelling words.

I printed off a basic square sheet on cardstock, just to make it sturdier. I put a blank square for every letter in her words for the week.

I let her draw a picture of what the word meant to her next to the squares. This way she could understand the picture a little better.

Then, out came the phonics tiles. You could use scrabble tiles or upwords tiles also. I pulled out the tiles that went with her words.

You could do a number of stuff.

….let her unscramble individual words, or all of the together.

….leave out the vowels.

….leave out the beginning letters.

She actually learned how to spell these first four words in one day. I was amazed.
